Foraging & Nature Tour, Belfast Castle
No dates available at present
- 20 British pounds£20
- Belfast Castle
Service Description
Just a speedy ten-minute taxi ride from either the centre of Belfast or Belfast Port (or an equally short scoot on the No. 1 bus from the centre!), our tours open at the front doors of Belfast Castle. Refreshments and toilet facilities are available before we begin at 10.30. Our tours last at least an hour and a half, and on average we will encounter over 50 types of flora, fauna and fungi awaiting to be discovered and explored along the sides of our path. The route is accessible for all levels of mobility, and although seasonal varieties do change, the views will always be spectacular over city, shipyards and lough. We begin with a geographical orientation, discussing the impact of micro- and macro-climates and terra forma on the development of the world around us, and we will then start to study the diversity of nature below, above and beside us. During this short walk at the foot of the Belfast hills, we will see native woodland, open meadow, hedgerow herbs, fruiting bushes, edible flowers and wild fungi, as well as practical, poisonous and medicinal plants galore. We return to our starting point at the Castle’s famed gardens, where rest and refreshments can be found within the Castle's beautiful historic halls.
