River Ramble, Benburb

From Benburb Priory, down to the river and back

15 British pounds
Benburb Garden Centre & Cafe

Service Description

A 1K walk with some inclines and steps, in which we're never out of sight of Ireland's ancient trees. We cross pasture-land down to the castle, and explore the terrain around its stones. The diversity of old-established woodland always offers surprises to the enquiring eye. Below rushes the river Blackwater, famed for its fishing, as well as the otters or kingfishers that may be glimpsed along its pathways. Orchids and fungi are there to be seen too, along with a plethora of our native herbs and other edible plants. A naturally rich environment, just waiting to be explained and explored. Don't forget your notebook!
